Audience-Interactive MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival Makes Third Annual
Appearance at the Art Center
One World, One Week, One Festival
Established in New York City in 1997, the MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival receives over 500 entries
from more than 40 countries each year. Ten entries are selected as finalists in the annual Festival and
are then packaged and distributed on DVD to participating theaters. Audiences from around the world
unite not only to view the films, but to vote on them as well. The winner will be announced on Sunday,
October 7 at 10 pm EST and the Art Center will post the results at desmoinesartcenter.org. This year, the
MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival's 15th, theaters in all 50 states are participating as well as venues on
six continents. For more information about the MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival and to view a listing of
the ten final films, visit www.msfilmfest.com/finalists.html.
This year, due to popular demand, the Art Center will screen the festival on two evenings:
Friday, September 28 and Friday, October 5, starting at 6:30 pm in Levitt Auditorium. Although
the October 5 program is a repeat of the 9/28 program, audiences will have the opportunity to
vote at the conclusion of each evening. Films are not rated, but are intended for an adult
audience and are approximately two hours in length.
