DESCRIPTION:Join the Des Moines Art Center’s March Social Saturday event: Entirely Kids! Come play\, create\, and explore during a lively afternoon of art and discovery! Designed especially for children and families\, this playful\, high-energy event invites our creative community to explore\, make\, and discover together throughout the Art Center museum galleries and Art School studios. \nThroughout the day\, young visitors and their grown-ups can enjoy hands-on art making\, gallery experiences\, interactive workshops\, scheduled storytime\, and performances. With a rhythm of planned activities and space to explore in between\, Social Saturday: Entirely Kids encourages curiosity\, connection\, and shared discovery — while helping kids practice being thoughtful\, engaged museum visitors. \nSchedule of Events:\n11:15 – 11:30 am | Storytime\nLevitt Auditorium\n12 – 12:30 pm | Pied Piper: Artsoundscape\nLevitt Auditorium\n1 – 1:45 pm | Pied Piper: All-Together Orchestra\nLevitt Auditorium\n1 – 2 pm | Guided Tour (all ages)\nMeet in the Macomber Lobby\n1:45 – 2 pm | Large group Hokey Pokey\nMeet in the Macomber Lobby \nDrop-in Activities (11 am – 2 pm):\nMuseum Galleries\nExploring Together: Scavenger Hunt\nMacomber Lobby\nFree pie fries from Pie Bird Pies (to celebrate Pi Day 3/14; while supplies last)\nComplimentary sketchbook provided by Community Choice Credit Union (while supplies last)\nArt School Studios\nExplore creativity and your inner artist! Pastel portrait drawing (Studios 1 and 2)\, and collaborative sculpture making (Studios 5 and 6)\nMuseum Shop\nVisit the Museum Shop for creative gifts and unique finds for young and old alike. Art Center members receive 10% off every day. Shop during museum hours or online anytime.\nArt Center Café\nStop by for a sit-down lunch\, or grab a coffee to go during Entirely Kids Day. Art Center members receive a 10% in the café every day.\nSee our special exhibitions before they close!\n“Honey\, You’re a Wonderful Model: Maria Lassnig’s Animated Films” (Anna K. Meredith Gallery)\n“Iowa Artists 2026: Henry Payer: Aagakinąk Haciwi: We Live Opposite Each Other” (A.H. Blank Gallery and Krause Atrium)\n“Camille Henrot: Tuesday” (Pamela Bass-Bookey and Harry Bookey Gallery – closes March 29!)\n“Bill Owens: Work and Leisure” (John Brady Print Gallery) \nSocial Saturdays occur at the Des Moines Art Center on the second Saturday of the month. This event is free to attend\, and no registration is required. Social Saturdays will be documented with photography and videography. \nFor programs in Levitt Auditorium:\nWe strive to provide live captioning for all events offered in Levitt Auditorium. Due to interpreter shortages throughout Iowa\, American Sign Language interpretation is only available upon request.
