DESCRIPTION:Join us for a gallery talk in the exhibition “Let Us Gather in a Flourishing Way: Contemporary Latinx Painting\,” featuring artist Sarah Zapata with Art Center Senior Curator Laura Burkhalter. Inspired by a 2008 poem\, “Let Us Gather in a Flourishing Way” celebrates the vision and creativity of Latinx painters. \nPeruvian-American fabric artist Sarah Zapata lives and works in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn\, New York. Zapata’s studio practice is firmly rooted in fiber arts\, utilizing traditional weaving\, coiling\, and latch-hook techniques to achieve contemporary abstracted objects.
