MINDFUL MESSES

This six-week class invites participants to find the extraordinary qualities within ordinary, found, and discarded objects. Discover how to transform junk into collage and assemblage art through gathering, sorting, combining, composing, and joining. Learn about inspiring contemporary assemblage artists such as Betty Saar and Nick Cave. Class participants will create individual and collaborative artworks using items they find, and items shared by the instructor and each other.

Bring a baggie of items to the first class, such as old buttons, costume jewelry, candy wrappers, tiny bits of cloth or trim, small broken toys, fake flowers, smashed cans, and gloves with no mates.
