UKRAINIAN PYANSKY EGG DECORATION
Learn the art of Pyansky decoration in this fun workshop. Pysanka, coming from the verb pysaty meaning “to write” or “to inscribe”, is a Ukrainian egg decorating technique used to make traditional folk designs and writings that uses beeswax in a hot wax-resist. Ukrainians have been decorating eggs with highly symbolic and colorful motifs for countless generations. Different villages had specialized motifs, but some common imagery includes depictions of the sun, birds, a ladder, the tree of life, flowers, and geometric designs.??
