Liza Lou visited the Des Moines Art Center on the occasion of her work “Kitchen” (1991-1996) being featured in the exhibition “Transform Any Room” (October 6, 2023 – January 14, 2024). Covering bodies of work from the 1990s to the present, Lou gave us insight into her creative ethos by citing William Stafford’s poem titled “The Way It Is” and deftly paralleling the title of her talk “The Marathon of Making” with the sentiment so beautifully phrased by Stafford.
