The Des Moines Art Center offers guided tours and self-guided tours through the museum as well as the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park; however tours are suspended out of an abundance of caution due to COVID-19.
Self-guided tours are welcome during public hours and must be reserved ahead of time. We offer special guided tours for non- or low-sighted individuals at both locations. Depending on studio availability, a tour and art project can be scheduled.
Learn about artwork in the Des Moines Art Center’s permanent collection through audio commentary from Director Jeff Fleming and former Director James T. Demetrion.
While at the Pappajohn Sculpture Park, use your cell phone to learn more about the works of art as you explore, or listen online from the comfort of your own home.
The Des Moines Art Center launched virtual tours of their permanent collections and special exhibitions in March 2020. The tours allow visitors to click through the extensive collections as if they were at the museum, walking through the galleries.
