The 2026 Toni and Tim Urban Artist-in-Residence supported an incredible live performance of “The Fall,” an animated film by French artist Christine Rebet. Rebet’s film was created in collaboration with Simone Harris, a descendent of Queen Nanny, the supreme leader of the Windward Maroons of Jamaica during their fight against slavery and colonialism.
During the live performance, Harris was Lady Blake Ophelia Stratum, a vessel for Queen Nanny, who revealed the story and created an environment that reveres remembrance. An insightful Q&A followed, moderated by Art Center Associate Curator Ashton Cooper, with Harris and Rebet.
Recorded on April 10 and 11, 2026 at the Des Moines Art Center.
Generous support provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program.
