About Summer Camp

Week-long summer art camps run annually from June through mid-August and are available for youth ages 5 – 14. Our summer camps offer a creative outlet for all interests and a chance to explore a variety of art forms, including drawing, painting, clay, animation, and dance. Weekly themes like Character Creations, Animals at the Art Center!, and Comic Books & Superheros allow campers to delve into fantasy and fun. Campers receive a Des Moines Art Center summer camp t-shirt as part of their tuition.

Beyond our morning and afternoon summer camps, the Art Center offers supervised care before, after, and in between our camp sessions for an additional fee. Supervised lunch runs from 12 – 1 pm and includes games and outdoor play. Our morning and afternoon camps require campers to bring their own snacks, and our supervised lunch participants must bring their own lunch.

The Art Center only provides supervision to children who are registered in a camp. Extended care tuition is required for those who plan to drop off more than 10 minutes before the start of camp or pick up more than 10 minutes after the end of camp.

Scholarships are available to cover Art Center summer camp tuition as well as supervised care.
