Event Details

Join us for A Day With(out) Art, an international day of action and awareness in response to the AIDS crisis, marking the Des Moines Art Center’s first-ever participation. Created in partnership with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Priory of the Wilde Rose, this event aims to raise awareness through community, education, and the arts.

Founded in 1989 at MoMA, this event is a call to action, care, and reflection on AIDS’ impact. Art gives voice to the silence, inspiring compassion and support for those affected.

Come and experience performance, interaction, and education with community partners from the Des Moines Gay Men’s Chorus, DSM Queer Youth Resource Center, Free Mom Hugs, Iowa Queer Student Alliance, LGBTQ Iowa Archives & Library, and One Iowa. Several artworks from the museum’s permeant collection will be shrouded to honor artists personally impacted by AIDS.

This event is free, and no registration is required.
