Join us for an unforgettable evening of spoken word poetry by Say: Poetry, representing some of Des Moines’ most talented youth. Through an after-school workshop series, poets from across district gather to create testimonies and stories about identity and social justice. On Friday, March 4, we’ll welcome a collective of these local high school poets to share their culture and craft with original works performed at 5:15 pm and 6:15 pm.* Bring your chants and snaps!
In addition, Side Garage, locally owned screen printing and custom design shop, will be onsite with live screen printing. Two exclusive shirt designs will be available for $13 each- with the option to screen your own! One design will feature Say: Poetry and the other will feature female artists in the Art Center’s collection. Side Garage will donate $3 from every Say: Poetry shirt purchase to the Say: Poetry scholarship fund.
