Join the Des Moines Art Center for this unique lecture from the 2024 Iowa Artist: b. Robert Moore, featuring a contemporary ballet performance produced by SEEDS.
b. Robert Moore is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist who is heavily influenced by socio-political events, cultural criticism, and collective identity related to the African American experience. Though he began drawing as a child, Moore fully leaned into a dedicated studio practice as an adult to facilitate healing and rehabilitation. Audiences will not want to miss this opportunity to hear Moore speak about his artistic trajectory and the deeply personal, powerful motivations imbued in his work.
SEEDS is a nonprofit organization in Des Moines that provides knowledge of self through cultural empowerment, creative expression, and entrepreneurship. Their after-school dance program, Swan, offers no-cost ballet, dance classes, and performance opportunities for Black and Brown youth.
