The Des Moines Art Center’s educational programs and resources promote critical thinking, compassion, connection, and creativity by utilizing artwork in the collections and exhibitions.

Museum Education and Interpretation strives to offer a variety of educational programs and resources to the community that utilize the artwork in the collections and exhibitions at the Art Center. We are guided by a commitment to shared authority, space opening, group meaning making, risk taking, honoring process, wellbeing, and kindness.

There are many ways to engage in growth and learning at the Art Center: lectures and gallery talks, events designed for multi-generational exploration, docent-led tours, printed exploration guides, audio content, gallery interactives, and more. Additional public programming includes film screenings, performances by artists, dancers, musicians, poets, and humanities-centered events with community partners.

Admission is always free! Visit the Art Center for one of our many calendar events or to explore the galleries.
