The Des Moines Art Center is partnering with the American Parkinson Disease Association to offer classes specifically for adults of any age impacted by Parkinson’s Disease. Connecting Through Art uses creativity to help improve motor skills, boost emotional well-being, and enhance cognitive function. Sessions are split into two days, an art-making day taking place at the Spirit Art Move Studios in West Des Moines, and an afternoon in the Des Moines Art Center galleries to discuss art and learn.
The gallery sessions will take place on the third Tuesday of every month at 2 pm and will take a conversational deep dive looking at one work of art. Participants are welcome to bring a caregiver. The hour long docent-led program is followed by an informal gathering with coffee and tea. This program is free and registration is required.
