Welcome to Fright Night at the Art Center! The Des Moines Community Playhouse’s Final Act Ensemble brings ghosts, witches, murder, and mystery to life in a Halloween performance inspired by the golden age of radio.

The evening features three chilling tales: “The Woman Who Wouldn’t Die,” in which a man begins to suspect his wife may be a witch burned more than 200 years ago; a spooky story of stranded teenagers, a possible dead body, and a mysterious stranger; and “The Moonlit Road,” Ambrose Bierce’s classic tale about a man who discovers the terrifying truth behind his mother’s murder.

For nearly 20 years, the Final Act Ensemble—a company of older adult actors—has performed polished old-time radio shows throughout the Des Moines area. This production features live acting, music, and sound effects.

Free; no registration required. Run time: approximately 50 minutes.

Please note: This program may not be suitable for younger children. The stories include death, murder, supernatural themes, eerie music, and spooky sound effects. Although portions of the performance are humorous, some children may find the program frightening.
