Shaina Larrivee, director of The Hedda Sterne Foundation, Nathan Augustine, art collections manager at Deere & Company, and Jared Ledesma, Art Center assistant curator, introduce one of the most fascinating artists of the twentieth century that you’ve likely never heard of—Hedda Sterne.
Larrivee gives an overview of Sterne’s life and work. Augustine will present on Sterne’s paintings of farm machinery that were inspired by visits to Deere factories in Illinois and Iowa as well as Deere & Company’s history of innovation. Ledesma will then join the stage and together they’ll further discuss Sterne’s achievements and explore topics including misogyny, perception, and invention.
