CASTING IN METALS

Design and create your own one-of-a-kind wearable works of art as you explore casting. Work with small sculptural forms in silver to make items like rings or parts for other kinds of jewelry. All levels are welcome. Students will learn the basics of creating a model from wax using carving methods, weighing and measuring to anticipate the weight in silver, investing and actual casting of one-of-a-kind pieces, and then the finishing processes to complete the work. The participant will learn and understand casting vocabulary. Because the session is short, students may want to work on projects at home between classes. Tuition includes access to open studio hours. Scholarships for class and materials are offered on our application page.
