DES MOINES, IA (May 2023) – The Des Moines Art Center is grateful to be the recipient of a gift from the Ellsworth Kelly Foundation. As reported by the New York Times, this gift is part of the Ellsworth Kelly Centennial Celebration, in which Jack Shear, Kelly’s widower, is honoring his partner’s life by awarding grants and donating works by the artist to museums who have historically helped steward his legacy. The Art Center is currently home to 13 works by Ellsworth Kelly, including “Yellow Blue,” 1963, which it acquired just eight years after it was created.
