The Des Moines Art Center will receive an Art Works grant award of $19,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts in support of its exhibition and educational programming for Justin Favela: Central American, slated to be on view at the Des Moines Art Center July 16, 2021 – October 17, 2021.

This summer, the Art Center plans to feature selections from the permanent collections in the Anna K. Meredith Gallery. The works on view will be a mix of familiar favorites and exciting newcomers.

This afternoon, the Des Moines Art Center launched seven virtual tours of their permanent collections and special exhibitions. The tours will allow visitors to click through the extensive collections as if they were at the museum — an especially important experience as the Art Center galleries are closed to the public until April 7 in response to COVID-19.

On Friday, February 14, the Des Moines Art Center will open Researchers: Women Artists Inspired by Science. The exhibition will be on view through May 10, 2020 in the John Brady Print Gallery. The exhibition is organized by Curator Laura Burkhalter.

On Saturday, February 8, 2020, the Des Moines Art Center will open Karla Black: 20 Years, which will be on view through May 17, 2020 in the Anna K. Meredith Gallery and I. M. Pei Galleries. Former Director of Curatorial Affairs and Senior Curator Alison Ferris initiated the exhibition.

On Friday, January 17, the Des Moines Art Center will open Anna Gaskell: Judith Loves Martha. The exhibition will be on view through May 17, 2020 in the Pamela Bass-Bookey and Harry Bookey Gallery. The exhibition is organized by Director of Curatorial Affairs / Senior Curator Alison Ferris.
